AI-Enabled Offices Are Not the Future. They Are the Present

When I first chose architecture as a career, I was fascinated by how great buildings could leave a lasting impact on a city. Today, after years of working in construction and real estate development, I have come to believe that the buildings that define the future won’t just be beautiful, they’ll be intelligent.

For decades, commercial real estate has focused on location, design, and infrastructure. While those fundamentals remain important, the expectations of businesses have changed dramatically. Companies today are looking for workspaces that are smarter, more efficient, and capable of adapting to the way people work. That’s where artificial intelligence is changing the conversation.

AI-enabled offices are no longer a futuristic concept. They are already influencing how commercial buildings operate from intelligent energy management and predictive maintenance to smart security, visitor management and workplace optimisation. These technologies don’t replace people; they empower them by making workplaces more efficient, sustainable and user-friendly.

My journey from architecture to real estate has taught me that every successful project begins with one question: Will this building remain relevant twenty years from now? If the answer is uncertain, then it’s time to rethink the approach.

That philosophy has shaped the way we are developing Orion One32. Our objective has never been to simply create another commercial project. We wanted to build a destination that embraces the future of work by integrating technology with thoughtful design, creating an environment where businesses and people can thrive together.

Having studied abroad and travelled extensively, I have seen how global commercial developments are moving towards integrated, technology-driven ecosystems rather than standalone office buildings. India is moving in the same direction and I believe developers have an opportunity and a responsibility to build for the future rather than the present.

Artificial intelligence should not be viewed as an optional luxury. Just as high-speed internet, efficient air conditioning and digital connectivity became essential over time, AI-enabled infrastructure will soon become a basic expectation for modern workplaces.

The future of commercial real estate will belong to developers who create intelligent, adaptable and experience-driven spaces. AI-enabled offices are not replacing the human element, they are enhancing it. That’s why I believe they are not the future anymore. They are already the present.
