The Ministry of Ayush has launched the Yoga 365 campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging people to practise yoga daily rather than limiting it to annual events like the International Day of Yoga (IDY).
The initiative was unveiled during the launch of Yoga Mahotsav 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, marking the 100-day countdown to IDY 2026.
Key Highlights
- Yoga 365 campaign launched to promote daily yoga practice
- Free online sessions to be offered through partnership with Habuild
- Focus on bridging gap between awareness and regular practice
- Integration of yoga into schools, workplaces, and communities
- Part of broader push ahead of International Day of Yoga 2026
From Awareness to Daily Practice
Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav said the campaign aims to build on the success of the International Day of Yoga, first observed globally in 2015.
He noted that while awareness of yoga is already high, regular practice remains limited.
Government data shows that awareness of traditional wellness systems is above 95% in both rural and urban India. However, only a smaller proportion of households practise yoga consistently.
Official Statement
The minister said the goal of Yoga 365 is to make yoga a part of everyday life.
He emphasised that yoga supports physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being, and should be integrated into daily routines rather than treated as an occasional activity.
Digital Outreach and Institutional Integration
As part of the campaign, the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga has partnered with wellness platform Habuild to offer free daily online yoga sessions.
These sessions aim to make guided practice accessible to people across different age groups and locations.
The campaign also plans to expand into schools, offices, and community spaces, promoting structured programmes such as short workplace yoga breaks and standardised practice modules.
Bridging the Gap in Practice
Officials highlighted that despite widespread awareness, there is a gap between knowledge and action.
Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush Rajesh Kotecha said the initiative is designed to make yoga more practical and relevant for daily life, including for managing non-communicable diseases through specialised protocols.
Context and Background
The International Day of Yoga has grown into a global movement since its inception in 2015, with participation from millions worldwide.
In India, yoga has been promoted as part of preventive healthcare and holistic wellness under various government programmes.
The Yoga 365 campaign represents a shift from annual awareness events to sustained behavioural change.
Public Impact
If successful, the initiative could encourage more people to adopt regular yoga practice, improving overall health and reducing lifestyle-related diseases.
By offering free digital access and promoting workplace and community programmes, the campaign aims to make yoga more inclusive and accessible.
Conclusion
Yoga 365 marks the next phase of India’s wellness strategy, focusing on turning awareness into daily action.
With the International Day of Yoga 2026 approaching, the campaign seeks to build a culture where yoga becomes a routine part of life rather than a once-a-year activity.
