A recent U.S.–India workshop on artificial intelligence has underscored growing collaboration between the two countries, while also identifying gaps that need to be addressed to sustain long-term innovation. The event, held in February 2026 at Plaksha University in partnership with the U.S. Embassy New Delhi, brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to strengthen joint AI research efforts.

Today, newer institutions such as IIT Palakkad, IIT Ropar, and IIT Guwahati are developing specialised AI programmes. Experts believe linking these with global universities could accelerate research and innovation.

They also emphasised early exposure to AI education at school and undergraduate levels to build a future-ready workforce.
