Kosamba Rail Over Rail Flyover in Gujarat
The Rail Over Rail flyover, estimated at ₹344.38 crore, will connect the Kosamba–Umrapada gauge conversion section to the Mumbai–Vadodara main line.
This section currently faces connectivity challenges due to the alignment of the Dedicated Freight Corridor, which makes traditional surface crossings impractical. The flyover will eliminate such crossings and allow smoother integration of the upgraded line into the main network.
By enabling uninterrupted train movement, the project is expected to improve safety and maximise the benefits of ongoing gauge conversion work.
Bhagalpur Rail Bypass in Bihar
The second project involves building a 13.38 km bypass around Bhagalpur at a cost of ₹303.20 crore.
The bypass will connect the Barahat–Bhagalpur section with the Bhagalpur–Sahibganj route, helping trains avoid congestion at Bhagalpur junction.
Currently, the Barahat–Bhagalpur stretch operates beyond its capacity, and trains often face delays due to mandatory engine reversals at the junction. The new bypass is expected to streamline operations, reduce travel time, and improve punctuality.
